The Montana Western Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders to roll past Providence 81-61 in the Frontier Conference Semifinals. Five players scored in double figures led by Brynley Fitzgerald’s game-high 22 points. Fitzgerald went 6-13 from the field and added six rebounds, two steals a block and an assist.
Offensively, the Bulldogs shot 52,7 percent from the field, connecting on 10 shot from 3-point range. UMW out scored Providence 38-20 in the paint.
The defense was just as efficient, holding the Argos to just 35.1 percent shooting and forcing 18 turnovers. The Bulldogs also had a season-high seven blocked shots with Lilly Gopher (Chippewa/Cree) recording four.
Gopher was on point on the offense as well, scoring a career-high 15 points and dishing out six dimes.
Also scoring in double-figures for Montana Western was Sydney Sheridan, 14 points, Paige Homes, 11 points, and Shainy Mack, 10 points.
Emilee Maldonado led the Argos with 14 points and Parker Esary nearly had a double-double with 11 rebounds and nine points.
The Bulldogs will face No.6 Carroll College in the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship game Monday, March 1. Tip-off from the P.E. Center is set for 7:05 p.m.
