STILLWATER — Leyton Hammonds posted his second career double-double with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as Oklahoma State rolled to a 117-72 victory over New Orleans Wednesday night.
Six different players scored in double digits for Oklahoma State (3-0), which hit the 100-point plateau for the third consecutive game.
Lindy Waters, III (Kiowa/Cherokee) got his 2nd career start for the Cowboys and chipped in 11 points.
With the 117 points, the Cowboys have scored 100 or more points in their first three contests, which tied the school record for consecutive games with 100 or more points.
The Cowboys broke the school record for points in a first half with their 68-point explosion against UNO. The previous high was 67 points against Houston Baptist on Dec. 15, 1998. The 32-point halftime lead is the 9th largest in school history.
Erik Thomas scored 18 points and had five rebounds, while Jorge Rosa contributed 14 points, for New Orleans (1-1).
The Cowboys led from wire-to-wire, jumping out to a big lead early and building on it the rest of the way. They led 68-36 at halftime.
Davon Dillard saw his first action of the season, and scored his first points in 2016-17.
The Cowboys are now 3-0 on the young season. OSU has gotten off to a 3-0 start in each of the last eight seasons. The last time OSU lost in one of its first three games was in 2007-08, when North Texas took down the Cowboys, 82-73, in Denton.
