Lower Columbia’s Nizhoni Wheeler (Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe) scored 26 points in 79-62 victory at South Puget Sound

The Lower Columbia College women’s team qualified for the post season with a 79-62 victory at South Puget Sound on Wednesday February 20th.

Nizhoni Wheeler (Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe)  was the star of the game as she scored 26 points with five rebounds and nine blocked shots.  Wheeler was dominate inside as her teammates continued to get the ball to her in the post.  Nones also hit her only three point attempt of the night.

Kenya Lorton had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as LCC jumped out to a 49-31 lead at halftime and cruised from there.

Jerri Maluyo made things happen with 13 points, four boards and six assists. Maluyo had three steals, two which led to her lay-ins at the other end.

Madeline Jacobson had eight points and seven rebounds.

Trinity Betoney led the Clippers with 18 points. She had just two at the half and scored most of them in the 4thquarter when the game was long decided.

The Red Devils won for the fifth straight outing and raised the league mark to 10-2.  The 8th ranked Devils are 18-9 overall and they will have a chance to clinch the West Region title Saturday night when they host the Highline Thunderbirds on Sophomore Night.  Six departing LCC players will be honored prior to the 5 pm tip off
