LPGA Foundation Announces Partnership with Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., J – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation announced today a new partnership with the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. The Championship Series will be conducted by the independently owned and operated golf operations company Elite GP, LLC in conjunction with Notah Begay III and provide junior golfers ages 9-18 with the chance to compete in an inclusive environment in hopes of becoming the world’s next top golf stars.

Three LPGA*USGA Girls Golf participants will receive complimentary entry fees into Regional Qualifiers for the 2020 Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. The 54-hole championship will feature 140 participants, comprising 50 boys and 50 girls ages 14-18 and 20 boys and 20 girls ages 13 and under.

“The LPGA Foundation is excited to partner with the NB3 Foundation,” said LPGA Foundation President Nancy Henderson. “We are especially pleased with the fact that participation is 50% boys and 50% girls, and that all juniors will have an unrestricted pathway to compete.

The NB3 Foundation is a national, award-winning nonprofit that focuses on Native-led projects to improve Native American children’s health. The Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship was founded to offer junior golfers the chance to compete with and against their talented peers, a goal that closely aligns with the mission of the LPGA Foundation.

“It definitely has been a big undertaking, but we could not be more excited to finally introduce this unique championship to the junior golf circuit,” said Notah Begay III, founder of the NB3 Foundation and a four-time PGA TOUR winner. “I believe that every kid throughout the country will now have the opportunity to play their way into the National Championship and ultimately help their chances of getting recognized by college coaches.”

In order to be eligible for the free-entry program, Girls Golf participants must be nominated by their Site Directors at https://lpga.formstack.com/forms/notahbegayjrchamp by June 22, 2020. The winners of 20 Regional Qualifiers will advance to the National Championship, which will be held Nov. 15-17 at Koasati Pines at Coushatta Golf Club in Kinder, La., and air on Golf Channel.

“Our hope in providing the cost of the registration fee to three of our LPGA*USGA Girls Golf participants is to remove any financial barrier which may limit a girl’s dreams of competing on the national stage that Notah is providing,” said Henderson.
