PORTLAND | The Warner Pacific Women’s Basketball team dropped a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup to the reining 2020 CCC Champs Bushnell Beacons 67-92.
The Rundown
Four Knights scored in double figures on the day behind Lynden Harry’s 18 points; Guelesdorf (11), Farner and Bruno (10).
Anna Farner recorded her first career double-double. The sophomore from Mollala, Oregon finished with 10 points and 12 boards, shooting 4-6 from the stripe.
After another slow start to the game, trialing by nine entering the second quarter, Warner Pacific managed to find their groove to outscore the Beacons 21-17 in the quarter to head into the locker room trailing by five.
A team normally known for powerful third quarters, struggled to find the nylon as the Beacons continued to stretch out their lead. In a high scoring and powerful fourth quarter where Bushnell scored 35 points to Warner Pac’s 24 and the Knights shot for 60% on 9-15 from the field, the Beacon’s managed to put the game away to nail down the weekend sweep.
The Knights won the battle on the offensive glass with 13 offensive rebounds versus the Beacons’ 12. Warner Pacific won the free-throw game shooting 62% from the charity stripe with 15 made free throws, Gabriella Bruno sank eight by herself. The team’s 15 makes fell just three short of Bushnell’s total attempts. The Beacons finished 8-18 from the line for 44%.
Anna Farner’s 12 boards was good enough to garner the game-high.
Warner Pacific, led by Kylie Guelesdorf’s four, dished out 17 assists on 23 made buckets.
