NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday the inaugural class of 30 NAIA student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-America honors by finishing among the top 30 in the 2015 NAIA Cross Country Championship race.
Oklahoma City became the seventh team to win three national titles in a row, with Indian Country’s very own Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe) finishing 3rd for the Stars and 16th Overall with a time of 25:06.0. Mackenzie earned his 3rd straight All-American status with his finish and best of his career so far. He’ll return for a senior campaign next season.
Making their first trip to the NAIA National Cross country championships, Bacone College finished 15th overall as a team but they were led by Jackson Thomas (Navajo), a transfer junior, who competed in his first ever NAIA Championship race and finished 4th place overall with a time of 24:18.o.
These honors are in addition to their NAIA All-American status as well.
