Mariah Stacona (Warm Springs) led Northwest U with 18 points as Eagles Fall 73-52 to Oregon Tech

Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – A Strong start and solid second half would give Oregon Tech a 73-52 conference victory over Northwest University tonight in the NU Pavilion.

Oregon Tech would jump out early taking a 21-9 first quarter lead on the slower starting Eagles. But, Northwest U would come back strong in second quarter to outscore the Owls 19-15 to trail 36-28 at the half.

Tech would shoot 44% in the second half as they would slowly pull away from Northwest U outscoring the Eagles 37-24 in the half.  Bailey Nelson’s lay-up at the 5:40 mark of the third period would stretch the Owls’ lead to 47-32. With 2:59 to go in the quarter, OIT would lengthen their lead to 18, 53-34 after a 3-pointer by Tayah Ranney. NU would close the quarter with a 5-2 to make it a 56-42 game at the end of the quarter.

The Owls would extend their lead to 19 points with 7:15 to go in the game and would maintain the margin for the remainder of the game as the shorthanded Eagles would not be able to make up any ground. NU’s leading rebounder and second leading scorer, Miranda Langenhorst sat out the contest with an injury suffered in last night’s game with Southern Oregon.

Mariah Stacona (Warm Springs) led Northwest U (4-8, 1-3 CCC) with 18 points tonight with teammate Kalee Fowler adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. NU shot 32% for the game and just 22% from the 3-point line.

Oregon Tech (8-6, 1-3 CCC) was led by Bailey Nelson and Amanda Constant who each scored 13 points for the Owls. Nohea Waiwaiole added 10 points and 7 rebounds as OIT hit 29 of 68 shots for 43%. OIT also outrebounded Northwest U 42-40.
