(Omaha, NE) – The Enid Outlaws traveled to Omaha, Nebraska to open the 2021 The Basketball League season. In a dog-fight that came down to the final shot of the game, the Outlaws defeated the Omaha Finest 118-115.
The Outlaws led 108-92 with 3:33 remaining in the game, the Finest went on a furious end of game rally, outscoring Enid 23-10. The Finest used a combination of deep three-point shots and jump shots to bring the game to within one with 115-116 with :20.3 left in the game. Lindy Waters closed out the scoring hitting a pair of free throws.
The Outlaws were led in the contest by:
- Charlie Marquardt – 29 points including 6/11 from beyond the 3 pt. line.
- Wayne Runnels (Cheyenne/Arapaho)– 28 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double.
- Chance Comanche (Choctaw/Comanche) – 23 points on 8-14 shooting
- Lindy Waters (Kiowa/Cherokee) – 23 points on 7-13 shooting and 3-6 from the three.
Craig Sword, 27 points on 11-21 shooting, and Tre’Shawn Thurman, 6-15 from the field and 10-12 from the free throw line, led Omaha.
The Outlaws travel on Sunday to Little Rock to take on the Little Rock Lightning.
