by On April 28th, Loren Anthony (Navajo) and Goldie Tom (Navajo) each took first place at the New Mexico State Powerlifting competition held in Gallup, New Mexico. Over 80 competitors traveled from all over the state of New Mexico and battled from 9AM to 7PM at Gallup High School gymnasium. However, at the end day, it was Loren Anthony and Goldie Tom both taking home the state championships in the Squats, Bench Press and the Deadlifts Divisions. Congratulations to each competitor as they now begin to prepare for national competitions by training to compete at a few regional meets over the next few months. Anthony says, “We’re proud to be native, living sober, healthy and making it happen!”.
