NFL: Sam Bradford (Cherokee Nation) Takes First-Team Reps with Eagles

Around the NFL

Sam Bradford (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) has taken another step forward in his recovery from knee surgery.

NFL Media’s Albert Breer reported Tuesday that Bradford split first-team reps with Mark Sanchez in 7-on-7 drills during the Eagles’ latest round of OTAs. Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow worked behind the two quarterbacks.

The snaps represent Bradford’s first foray into competitive drills since arriving from St. Louis in a trade this offseason. Bradford missed all of last season after suffering a torn ACL during a preseason game. It was the same ACL Bradford tore during the 2013 season.

Bradford’s work on Tuesday comes five days after Eagles coach Chip Kelly gave a positive report on Bradford’s post-surgery progress.

“He is on schedule,” Kelly said last Thursday. “We all think there’s three phases: There’s medical rehab, there’s performance rehab and then there’s prepare to play. He’s probably right at the tail end of medical rehab. He’ll probably start throwing some 7-on-7 next week, but I think he’s right on schedule in terms of where he is.”

Performance rehab has now begun. It’s early, but Bradford appears to be on the right track for the Eagles‘ season opener against the Falcons.
