Without Tiger Woods and Jason Dufner due to injuries, the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge is still set to tee of tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at Turning Stone Resort’s Atunyote Golf Club in Verona.

Dufner, the 2013 PGA Champion who won at Oak Hill CC in Rochester, withdrew from this year’s PGA Championship with a neck injury. Woods, who is the longtime friend of Begay and former teammate at Stanford, has a well-documented back injury. Woods is still scheduled for sponsor and VIP events.
Eric Compton replaces Woods. Patrick Reed takes Dufner’s slot. Jhonattan Vegas was the “player-to-be-named-later” after the first lineup was announced last month in the eight-player field of the 7th Annual Challenge.
The NB3 is a team best-ball format: four U.S. players — Compton, Reed, Begay and Jimmy Walker; four International players: Vegas, Jonas Blixt, Angel Cabrera and Louis Oosthuizen.
The eight-player field includes six players in the top-80 of the Official World Golf Ranking: Walker (19th), Reed (33rd), Blixt (48th), Cabrera (55th), Oosthuizen (57th) and Compton (78th). Vegas is 242nd and Begay is an announcer with NBC Sports/Golf Channel.
The Challenge has raised more than $5 million to fight obesity and diabetes among Native American children through sports and wellness programs.
