OKLAHOMA CITY – Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma) from Oklahoma City University garnered Sooner Athletic Conference men’s track athlete of the week for the second consecutive week.
Harris, a junior from Norman, Okla., ran the second fastest time by a Star in the 1,500 meters Friday in the Oregon State High Performance Meet in Corvallis, Ore.
Harris finished the race in three minutes, 47.81 seconds to take second place behind Oregon’s Chris Brewer. Harris improved upon his automatic qualifying time for the NAIA Championships that he ran April 20 in the Kansas Relays at Lawrence, Kan. Csaba Matko holds OCU’s 1,500 record of 3:44.00.
OCU has the past three SAC men’s track athlete of the week award winners after Arya Bahreini picked up the honor for April 11-17.
The Stars will compete in the Missouri Southern Twilight Last Chance Meet on May 13 in Joplin, Mo.
