OKLAHOMA CITY – Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma) from Oklahoma City University collected the Sooner Athletic Conference men’s track athlete of the week.
Harris, a junior from Norman, Okla., secured an automatic qualifying bid for the NAIA Championships while winning the 1,500 meters Thursday in the 89th Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan.
Harris posted the winning time of three minutes, 50.48 seconds. He also has earned a provisional qualifying berth in the 5,000 meters for the NAIA Championships on May 26-28 in Gulf Shores, Ala. Harris became 1,500-meters runner-up in the 2015 NAIA national meet.
The Stars compete in the Oregon State High Performance Meet on Friday in Corvallis, Ore.
