(Bartlesville, Ok) – Nominations are due before May 1 for the 17th-annual Oklahoma Indian All-State basketball games, which will be held this summer on June 16th at the campus of Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Forms were mailed out last week to area high school coaches seeking senior player nominees for the Indian All-State honors.

North and South squads — comprised of 48 First-Team selections — will meet in separate boys’ and girls’ contests. Twenty recently-graduated prep players also will be named for Second-Team honors.

Interstate 40 serves as the dividing line for the North-South selections. Honorees will be named in May.

The nomination forms, along with Certified Degree of Indian Blood, must then be mailed by April 30 to Oklahoma Indian All-State, 100 N. Second in Fairfax, OK 74637.

“There have been people recruited at each and every (Oklahoma Indian) All-State game,” said Dr. Joe Conner, who serves as co-director of the event.

Conner encouraged anyone knowing of a deserving player to remind their coaches about the nomination process.

“These games are some of the most exciting in the state and are often a springboard to a college playing career,” Conner said.

Indian All-Staters must be from federally-recognized tribes.
