Payton Sierra (Oglala Lakota) captures medalist honors at the MLC/UMN Morris Dual

LITCHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s golf team finished first at the MLC/UMN Morris Dual Sunday afternoon, which took place at the Litchfield Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Cougars shot a 424 (+144) as a team.
     
  • Payton Sierra (Oglala Lakota) finished first with a 91 (+21), five strokes ahead of Alison Lindemann (96/+26) from Martin Luther.
     
  • Shelby Maloney placed third with a 104 (+34).
     
  • Tori Grates took fourth with a 111 (+41).
     
  • Kim Novotny shot a 118 (+48) to place fifth.

NOTABLES

  • Sierra, a sophomore, won her third individual title at UMN Morris Sunday. She also won the 2018 MLC/UMN Morris Dual.
     
  • Maloney and Novotny, both freshmen, carded career-best scores Sunday.

The Cougars are set to host the UMN Morris Invite on Friday, Sept. 20, in Glenwood, Minnesota, at the Minnewaska Golf Course. The UMN Morris Invite is slated for an 11 a.m. start.
