COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland volleyball team is excited to announce the return of middle blocker Rainelle Jones (Cree) for one more season.
Jones was one of the key Terps this past season with 1.94 kills per set and an NCAA-high 1.73 blocks. She was twice named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week as she led the Terps to another season among the best blocking teams in the nation.
Jones will switch to 0 as freshman Laila Ivey will now wear Jones’ original 2.
Maryland heads into the 2022 season coming off a historically successful 2021 campaign in terms of both individual accolades and team accomplishments. The team’s 18 wins were the most since 2010 and the team earned four weekly Big Ten awards (two for Jones, two for Milan Gomillion.) The season-highlight came on September 24 when the team toppled then-No.2, and eventual National Champion, Wisconsin.
