JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Former Oklahoma State All-American Rickie Fowler (Navajo) tallied an unbeaten record at The Presidents Cup this week, fueling the U.S. to a 19-11 victory over the International squad at Liberty National.
Fowler finished the event with a 3-0-1 mark.
Playing in the anchor match during Sunday’s singles session, Fowler rolled to a 6-and-4 victory over Emiliano Grillo. In the match, he never trailed and tallied six birdies en route to his win. After taking his first lead with a win at the second, Fowler took the fourth and remained 2-up before Grillo posted his lone win at the eighth. However, Fowler won the ninth to regain his 2-up advantage at the turn.
He then won the 10th, 12th, 13th and 14th to close out the match.
Fowler opened play during Thursday’s foursome matches, teaming with Justin Thomas to roll to a 6-and-4 win over Charl Schwartzel and Hideki Matsuyama.
On Friday, Fowler and Thomas posted a 3-and-2 win over Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen in four-ball action. The four players squared off again on Saturday morning, halving their foursome match.
The Americans now own a 10-1-1 record all time in the competition. The 2019 event will be conducted at Royal Melbourne in Australia.
