by Briar Cliff’s track team set a couple of school records today at the Drake Relays with the 4×8 and 4×4 relay teams both setting new school records.
The 4×4 team of Rusty Muncy, Alan Gerdes, Robert Iron Shell and Raheem Cowan set a new school record with a blistering time of 3:12.54, which is an A standard and qualifies the team for nationals. BCU’s 4×8 team of Joe Jackson, Mitchell Schleis, Tommy Thelen and Kyle Lorenzen also turned in a record setting performance with a school record time of 7:41.04. Muncy,Frank Wallace, Iron Shell and Cowan teamed up for the 4×1 relay, clocking a 41.74.
Briar Cliff’s 4×4 team will return to the track tomorrow in the finals, while Chargers will also compete in the triple jump and sprint medley.
Iron Shell (Rosebud Sioux) has now qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the 4x400m, 200m, and 4x100m events.
