The BC men’s track team set a pair of school records at this year’s Red Raider Open, hosted by Northwestern. Robert Iron Shell (Rosebud Sioux) did so in the 200m with a time of 21.06, while the Cliff’s 4×800 squad (Joe Jackson, Tommy Thelen, Mitchell Schleis, Kyle Lorenzen) also captured gold with a time of 7:44.45. Both performances hit the NAIA ‘A’ Qualifying Standard.
Meanwhile, Adam Drieling won the javelin, while Iron Shell won the 400m and helped the 4×4 (Joe Roden, Alan Gerdes, Kyle Lorenzen and Iron Shell) take home top honors at well. Drieling threw 53.87m (176-09). Iron Shell captured another 400m title in a time of 49.12, while Gerdes was fifth (51.72). The 4x400m team rolled to victory in 3:22.76. Frank Wallace was second in the 100m (10.82) and fourth in the 200m (22.13). Matt Harshman also logged a top five performance, finishing third in the long jump with a leap of 6.52m (21-04.75).
