Sandy Cohen III (Oneida Tribe) Scores 16 Points as Marquette Claims Exhibition 98-57 over VCSU

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s basketball team rolled to a 98-57 victory over Valley City State on Monday evening at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in its 2015-16 exhibition opener.

Freshman forward Henry Ellenson led the way for the Golden Eagles with 16 points, 17 rebounds and five assists without committing a foul or turnover. Sophomore Sandy Cohen, III Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin) also chipped in 16 points in the victory and freshman guard Haanif Cheatham scored 14 of his 15 points in the second half.

Wally Ellenson added eight points, while Ellwood Ellenson, a junior forward for the Vikings and the brother of Henry and Wally, contributed five points and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles shot 78.6 percent from the floor in the second half (22-of-28) and outscored VCSU 55-26 over the final 20 minutes of play.

Marquette led 43-31 at the half and was paced by Henry Ellenson, who had recorded a double-double of 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in 17 first half minutes.Luke Fischer was limited to just six minutes in the opening frame after picking up three fouls, but scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half.

The Golden Eagles will begin regular season play on Friday, Nov. 13 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center against Belmont at 8 p.m. Central time. The game, which will be played as part of the Legends Classic, will air on FS Wisconsin.
