Sheridan Flauger (Oneida) scored a career high 22 points for UW-Parkside in Win over Northern State

MARSHALL, Minn. — The Parkside women’s basketball team returned to action on Monday afternoon in a showdown against Northern State. The Rangers were looking to bounce back after dropping their game against Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday. The Rangers will leave Minnesota with a victory after topping the Wolves 70-61.

  • Sheridan Flauger had a career day, scoring a career high 22 points after going 8-14 from the field and 4-7 from beyond the three point line.
  • Paty Gallasova chipped in 14 points in the effort. She also added 6 rebounds along with a game high 7 assists.

The first quarter featured a back and forth battle. Northern State and Parkside exchanged blows up until the 3:25 mark. A Chloe Van Zeeland converted and one kickstarted a Rangers 15-4 run to round out the first quarter of play. The Rangers would lead at the break 26-14. 

Northern State would open the second quarter on a quick 7-0 run to pull within five points at 26-21. The Rangers would respond with another potent run after a nearly three minute scoreless drought between the two sides. A Paty Gallasova layup would mark the start of a 13-2 run to end the first half of play. Parkside would outscore Northern State 17-10 in the quarter. The score at the half would sit at 43-24 as the Rangers had built a 19 point lead.

The Wolves would start their comeback in the second half, outscoring the Rangers in both the third and fourth quarter. Northern State would find their footing in the third quarter and shoot 57.1% from the field. Their defense would limit the Rangers shooting percentage from deep as they would shoot 1-12 in the second half. The Rangers were able to weather the Wolves storm and hold on for the 70-61 victory.
