LOGAN, Utah — Utah State women’s basketball (4-15, 2-12 MW) had five different players score in double-figures, but came up short against Boise State (12-7, 9-7 MW), 81-72, on Saturday afternoon inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
USU junior guard/forward Monique Pruitt had the best statistical game of her career, dropping 15 points to go along with career-high marks of 13 rebounds and five steals, the most takeaways in a game by an Aggie player this season. The double-double was the first of her career.
Senior guard Emmie Harris led all Aggies, scoring a career-high 16 points, while also dishing out a team-best five assists. Redshirt sophomore guard Shyla Latone (Zuni Pueblo), graduate forward Jessica Chatman and sophomore guard Faith Brantley also finished in double figures with 13,12 and 10 points, respectively.
After getting out to a slow start, the Aggies trailed 20-10 at the end of the first quarter. USU then went off for its highest-scoring second quarter of the season, using 11-of-21 shooting to score 27 points in the period. The Aggies outscored the Broncos in the second half, 35-34, but were never able to close the gap and regain control after the early deficit.
Boise State was led in scoring for the second-straight game by junior guard Jade Loville, who went for 18 points. Freshman forward Alexis Mark led the Broncos with 13 boards.
As a team, Utah State shot 37.8 percent (28-of-74) from the field, 36.0 percent (9-of-25) from 3-point range and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) at the free throw line. Boise State shot 41.1 percent (30-of-73) from the field, while shooting 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from the 3-point line and 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from the charity stripe.
