Skyhawks Fall 3-1 to Mustangs; Heather Danny (Navajo) with Game High 25 Assists

DURANGO, Colo. – October 11, 2014 – Fort Lewis College entered Saturday’s volleyball match with the same Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record as their opponent, Western New Mexico University, but the Mustangs would take a one match lead at the end of the night, defeating the Skyhawks 3-1.

Fort Lewis drops to 6-13 overall and 2-8 in league matches. WNMU improves to 6-11 overall and 3-7 in the league.

The Skyhawks won set one, 25-21, but dropped the next three, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23.

Ashley Wells posted a match high 19 kills and added 16 digs. Heather Danny added 25 set assists, three kills and five digs. Ally Dell’Amico led both teams with 26 digs. Madi Bickle recorded seven kills, two digs and seven blocks (two solo blocks).

The Mustangs were led by Heather Verrill’s 12 kills. She committed only one error on 16 attempts for a .688 hitting percentage.

Fort Lewis will travel to Colorado Mesa University on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match before returning home to play host to Adams State University on Friday at 7 p.m.
