Stailee Heard (Seminole/Seneca/SacFox) Scores Career-High 19 Points for Oklahoma State in Win over Wyoming

STILLWATER – Behind season-best performances from Lior Garzon and Stailee Heard, Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team won the battle of the Cowgirls over Wyoming, 78-62, Sunday afternoon in Stillwater.

The win is the second in a row for the Cowgirls, improving them to 4-3 on the season. It also gives OSU a 2-0 start to its four-game homestand, with the stretch continuing Saturday against Texas State.

Garzon finished with 24 points, coming up two shy of a career high, while shooting 7-13 from the field and 4-8 from three. Heard posted her highest scoring output of her young career, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Quincy Noble had 11 points and Rylee Langerman had 10 to round out the Cowgirls in double figures. Praise Egharevba also had her best game at OSU, scoring eight points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Oklahoma State used a 9-0 run late in the first quarter to gain separation early in the game. An Anna Gret Asi basket extended the Cowgirl lead to three before Garzon buried a triple as time expired to make it an 18-6 advantage after the opening quarter.

Wyoming answered early in the second quarter, going on a 12-4 run to make it a four-point game. The Cowgirls put together a 13-2 run of their own later in the period, with Garzon responsible for 10 points in that stretch. Heading into the halftime locker room, OSU led 41-25.

The third quarter played nearly even, with both teams finding a rhythm offensively. The teams shot a combined 16-25 in the period, including 4-10 from beyond the arc. Heard continued to play well for the Cowgirls, scoring eight points and making all four shot attempts in the frame.

Entering the final period, Oklahoma State led 66-48. Wyoming put up a fight down the stretch, but OSU had an answer for each run, securing the 78-62 win.

Oklahoma State made over half of its shot attempts (53%) for the third time in seven games this season and made at least eight threes for the fourth time.

The Cowgirls used a rotation of only eight players in the game as they continue to deal with multiple injuries on the roster. Noble, Heard and Garzon carried a big load for OSU, each playing over 35 minutes in the win.
