Stormy Randazzo’s (Creek/Seminole) Strong Third Round Leads Marshall Women’s Golf Improvement at Bettie Lou Evans Invitationa

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Marshall women’s golf received a great third round from junior Stormy Randazzo (Creek/Seminole) to see an improvement in the final round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, Sunday afternoon at Big Blue Course. Randazzo shot a 3-under 69.

“Stormy played great today and exactly like I knew she would,” Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. “She’s been so close for the longest time and I’m proud of her. I’m proud of our fight today and look forward to the next event to improve more.”

Marshall as a team had a 12-stroke improvement in the third round and finished in 12th. Randazzo, who tied her career-best score on Sunday, started the day on the 13th hole and stayed nice and even through the rest of the back-nine with a birdie on No. 17. The junior then hit birdies on Nos. 4, 7 and 8 and had just one bogey. She was able to score par on everything else and moved up 29 spots on the leaderboard and finished tied for 22nd.

Junior Kerri Parks scored three strokes better in the third round and ended with a 1-over 73. Parks moved up two places on the leaderboard. Sophomore Torren Kalaskey also scored four shots better on Sunday and moved up three spots as well to finish her first collegiate event.

The Kentucky Wildcats came away with the win by 15 strokes over Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights came storming through on Sunday and ended with a team score of a 7-under 281 and jumped up four places to finish as the runner-up.

On the individual side, Pilar Echeverria of Indianapolis had a good steady tournament and won by two shots. She finished with a 5-under 211. Three players tied for second, however Carrie-Ann Lee led the charge for Rutgers with a 5-under 67 and jumped 10 places to move into the tie for second with Sarah Willis of Penn State and Carlotta Palacios of Tulane.
