By Dan Ninham (Oneida)

The highlight video clips continue to get multiple shares on the Internet when Tehoka Nanticoke has recently played a game. The recent Iroquois Nationals silver medal team performance at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship ’19 (WILC’19) continues to get coverage globally.

International tournament experience advances most players’ performance development. The world stage brings out the best in the elite performers. Tehoka Nanticoke future is now as he improves his game and makes others better along the way. He has respect near and far as he moves toward a professional lacrosse career.

“Tehoka is a #1 generational player,” said Reggy Thorpe, head coach of the USA team in WILC’19. “The kid is special. Players don’t come around often as awesome and steady as he is. He’s had great mentors in Cody (Jamieson), Jeremy (Thompson), and Randy (Staats). He is creative and will find a way to score.”

“Tehoka Nanticoke is one the best offense players in the country,” said Gewas Schindler, Director of Iroquois Nationals Men’s Box World Team. “He’s on the top of the NCAA DI list along with being elite in box lacrosse in Canada. He truly understands both box and field games and is one of our top young prospects for both men’s field and box teams for the Iroquois Nationals program. The program couldn’t be happier with how fast Tehoka has developed.”

University of Albany Coach Scott Marr said: “Tehoka has started off this season with a solid positive attitude, he is demonstrating strong leadership with his teammates, and I believe all of the international experience in the indoor and outdoor game has given him the opportunity to be in many locker rooms to learn from some of the top Native players in the world and that knowledge he is sharing with his teammates here at Albany. I feel these experiences have given him the confidence to become a strong leader in our locker room.”

“Tehoka is moving his game to another level,” said Tewanee Joseph, Team Serbia Offensive Coach.  “Not only spiritually, mentally but physically.  He plays the game with a respectful joy that helps transcend the game for all peoples.”
