by SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Three Native American athletes, Tiana Dockery (Navajo), Alicia Ostrander (Oglala-Lakota), and Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux), were invited by USA Volleyball to open tryouts for the U.S. Women’s National Team taking place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs February 20-22.
232 student athletes from 90 colleges and universities will be participating for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team, U.S. Collegiate National Team, and the U.S. Junior National Team.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and the U.S. National Team staff will lead the tryout process.
All three athletes squads made it to the NCAA tournament this past season, Tiana with KU, Alicia with Nebraska, and Lauren with University of San Diego
Last year, Tiana Dockery (Navajo) was invited and made it through the first few cuts.
