Concord, NH – First-year standout, Tiara Begishe (Navajo) was named the Yankee Small College Conference Player of the Year, as well as 1st Team All-Conference. This marks the first time in Central Maine CC Athletics history, that a member of the Women’s Volleyball program earned conference accolades.
Begishe, an outside hitter who attended Monument Valley High School, helped lead the Mustangs to their first ever program win. A dominant presence on the floor, Begishe was a factor in each set she logged during the season. In all, she helped lead the Mustangs to an overall record of 4-6, including 3 wins in their last 4 games.
According to Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, Kyle Chapman, “We are incredibly proud of Tiara and what she was able to do this year, there is no one more deserving of the award. She comes into the gym everyday wanting to get better, and this attitude has helped elevate the level of play in our gym. We cannot wait for next year so we can build on what she helped us accomplish this year.”
Begishe added, “It is an honor to receive this individual award, but it would not have been possible without my amazing teammates. It was a record setting year for our program, but we are not satisfied. We are looking forward to next season already!”
