Trinity Ruelas (Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo) Leads CSU-Fullerton to 1st Place Finish at UC-Riverside XC Invite

RIVERSIDE CALIF. — The Cal State Fullerton Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Teams had a great showing at the UCR Highlander Invitational on Saturday morning. Trinity Ruelas led the way on the women’s side finishing first collegiately and second overall with a time of 20:04.7.

The Cal State Fullerton women won with 35 points (1-5-7-8-14), UC Irvine with 88 and New Mexico St. 112. 

Ruelas (Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo) came out on top as she was the first collegian to cross the line with a time of 20:04 in the 6k. McKaylie Caesar and Mia Bergman finished sixth and eighth overall with times of 20:51 and 20:56. While Dana McGrath and Eva Rethmeier rounded out the Titans top five by finishing 9th and 18th with times of 20:58 and 21:14. 

“I am just really proud of our team. We have a young team, but they certainly do not race like one. I am really excited to see how we perform at conference, and I just want to continue to contribute to the team as we will be sure to surprise people at conference.”

The Titans are back in action next week as they host the Titan Invite on Friday, October 22nd at 4PM PST in their last tune up before the Big West Championships hosted by UC Davis.
