Turtle Mountain Community High School standout senior Sydnee Bruce (Chippewa) Signs with Turtle Mountain Community College

TMHS
BELCOURT – Turtle Mountain Community High School standout senior Sydnee Bruce has signed a letter of intent to further her education and basketball career right here at home at Turtle Mountain Community College.

Last week Bruce put pen to paper as TMCC head coach DJ McGillis and athletic director Pete Davis, Sydnee’s grandpa, were on hand for one of two TMCC signings that day.

Bruce brings a ton of experience playing at the WDA level for multiple seasons for the Braves. A catch and shoot guard/forward, Bruce is as steady as they come. Her ability to defend all five positions is her biggest strength, disrupting offenses with her constant pressure with a knack for getting her hands on the ball in the passing lanes and on-ball defense.

Coach McGillis said he’s happy to have a player like Bruce, which allows the Mikinock women to excel on the defensive end of the floor, and the leadership to help improve the culture of the Mighty Mikinocks program into the next generation.

“I’m excited to continue my education and basketball career out at TMCC,” Bruce said. “Attending TMCC gives me the ability to stay at home close to friends and family, and adjust to college life. Having the chance to work with Coach McGillis in another sport is something I’m quite looking forward to. He’s always been an excellent cross country coach for me, often noticing more potential in myself than I do, so having the ability to be coached by him again is a pleasure!”
