Badgers add walk-on for 2015-16

Waunakee native Will Decorah joins the Wisconsin roster

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men’s basketball coach Bo Ryan announced on Thursday that junior Will Decorah (Ho-Chunk Nation) has been added to the team roster as a walk-on and will immediately begin practice for the 2015-16 season. A native of Waunakee, Decorah has served as a manager for the men’s basketball team over the past two seasons.

Will Decorah (6-4, 205, Waunakee High School)

Decorah enjoyed a standout prep career at Waunakee High School in both basketball and football. He was a three-year letterwinner on the court, helping the Warriors to the Badger Conference championship all three seasons. As a senior, the two-time All-Conference selection averaged 16 points per game. On the football field, Decorah was a member of two state championship teams playing quarterback and defensive end. During his senior season, Decorah broke the school single-season record with 2,166 passing yards and was named first-team All-Conference.

Decorah’s father, Tim, played for Ryan at UW-Platteville and was a member of the Pioneers’ first national championship team in 1991. His sister, Emily, played basketball at UW-Milwaukee from 2011-14 where she broke the Horizon League single-season record with 95 3-pointers during her junior season. Decorah is majoring in economics.

  1. This makes me proud to be Native American. I have made it my goal to play for the Badgers. This makes me feel a sense of security knowing that I can possibly have a chance at playing for Wisconsin. Congrats.
